High-Speed Connection; Low Learning Curve
Netgear N900 Router Boosts Connectivity, Eliminates Interference
New tech is already rearing its head in the world of wireless routers, etc., but don't fret. Some companies, like Netgear, are still improving on their line of 802.11 N-class, high speed hardware in addition to rolling out new 802.11 ac draft adapters and routers.
The company's new N900 Dual Band Gigabit 802.11 N Router ($179.99) is easy to install (it took me about 10 minutes) and delivers connection speeds up to 900 megabytes per second.
The N900 also operates in two bandwidths: The standard 2.5 gigahertz band and the five gigahertz range, which eliminates interference from microwave ovens and wireless phones, etc.
In addition:
-- The router can be used with either a cable or DSL modem
-- It has four one gigabit Ethernet ports, allowing you to connect it to other devices on your network.
-- You can connect a printer and external hard drive to your network by simply plugging them into the two USB ReadyShare ports on the router.
-- It offers double firewall protection (SPI and NAT).
-- Connection is simplified using Netgear's Push 'N' Connect WiFi setup.
-- Netgear GENIE allows you to install the router on any device without software.
-- Expanded range using WiFi Boost.
